My Story

As the Creative Design Director at Penguin Random House Canada, I design books and manage some of the best designers in the industry. I have the good fortune of working in a house full of word-loving editors and publishers, award-winning authors, resourceful production people, savvy typesetters and talented photographers and illustrators--and of course there's the team of people who get these books out and noticed. Yes, there are good days and bad days, but definitely one of the BEST JOBS IN THE WORLD.

The braggy things (feel free to skip or roll your eyes through this part): I have earned a few design awards along the way, sat on a cover design panel, interviewed and been kindly mentioned in some great book design articles and blog sites. Most recently, awarded by the Alcuin Society for excellence in book design for The Only Cafe by Linden MacIntyre and The Preservatory by Lee Murphy. I am proud to say, my team dominated the Alcuin 2017 awards. We sit comfortably on a list which includes incredible book designers from across Canada. The credit also belongs to a hardworking team of production people and typesetters and--I say this affectionately--even those demanding editors who prod designers until they bleed in Pantone help make our books beautiful!

Past fun projects include the complete design and production of Cinema Scope Magazine, the current logo identity and print collateral for the highly regarded Munk Debate. Dabbled in logo design for startups and designed for love: wedding invitations.

I continue to be inspired by better designers and remain curious of the world around me.

Thanks for visiting!
